The mission of MO is to nurture unique emergent voices in dance by continuously investigating and investing in a practice-based curriculum that welcomes all the possible ways to dance. MO seeks to remain nimble and responsive to the evolving dance ecology, to provide meaningful facilitation of dancers’ relationship to the form so it is empowered, long-lasting and uniquely theirs. Alumni are celebrated as some of Canada’s most radical and inspired new artists producing, creating and performing in an enormous range of formats, environments and organizations.
Modus Operandi takes place on the unceded Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Modus Operandi is the education initiative of Out Innerspace Dance Theatre and would not be possible without the support from Canadian Heritage, The British Columbia Arts Council and The City of Vancouver.

MO Link provides 9 hours per week of contemporary dance development with MO educators for serious young dancers ages 15-20. It provides a wide range of contemporary repertoire and dance techniques including release technique, floor work, partnering, hip hop, ballet, improvisation, and movement generation led by MO guest artists and leading professionals.
MO Link is focused on nurturing new skills and broadening experience for exceptional young dancers looking to expand their understanding of contemporary dance, preparing to join post-secondary programs, and/or looking to learn more about the MO full-time multi-year program. It offers exposure to artists, companies and methods to orient young dancers and serves as a link to the next big step in their pursuit, helping them connect to what experiences of contemporary dance they can find in themselves, in the world and in their future. As a weekend offering, it can serve as an intensive boost to other programs, studios, courses or training regimens.
